Traction Speaks English
Worldwide, nearly 400 million people speak English as their primary or first language.
So why is it next to impossible to find a person who can give you short, simple, plain-English explanations to those burning questions in life, like...?
Who is Social Networking?
What is Social Media?
Where does a Wiki come from?
When does RSS publish?
Why is Twitter still here?
How Del.icio.us is that?
Because we've taken all the short, simple, plain-English explanations to those questions and plopped them on our website, that's why.
Come on over. It just makes sense.
The Purple Cow just wants to say Click!
As far as advertising/marketing/communications/business/life-lesson bloggers go, Seth Godin is the best in the game. Which is why you would probably be shocked to discover he's short, gangly and bald.
(After all, a man with such intellect and insight must also be in possession of height, strength, flowing locks and rugged facial hair, as if designed from blueprints equal parts Jesus and Hercules.)
But even without these biblical qualities, his words are repeatedly resounding. Take, for instance, Godin's blog post from August 22, “Ads are the new online tip jar”, wherein he tells us why we should reconsider the universal refusal to click on web ads.
Not only would doing so totally alter the economics of the web, Godin explains, clicking is how you tell a blogger, company, or website “Thanks” for producing content you actually enjoyed reading. You don’t have to truly be interested in buying anything. On the contrary, left-finger plantar flexion is just a way of showing your appreciation to the author.
So help a worthy blogger, company or website today and click away.
Retirement BBQ
On 8-8-08, Traction packed Warehouse 127 with clients, friends, family and enough Swadley's Bar-B-Q to feed a small army, and bid a tearfully merry adieu to Traction founders Larry and Brenda Smith.
Known as Larry Smith Advertising Agency, then later Smith & Associates, and presently Traction Marketing Group, Larry and Brenda founded the agency in February 1974 with five clients on the roster.
Thirty-four years later, the roster is a bit bigger and the agency name is a bit different, but Larry and Brenda are, and always will be, ingrained into the soul of Traction Marketing Group. Not to mention the very fabric of Oklahoma City advertising.
If you want to see how much fun the average Traction retirement BBQ really is, take a look here and here for some of our favorite candids from Larry and Brenda's retirement party.
